Advent Journey Day 10 - Rejoice, Rejoice

In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit.

May the blessings of the birth of Christ be with you and all your friends.

10 Days of Advent

A series of ten articles in preparation for Christmas. We set out to meet the Lord and be prepared.

Day 10. Rejoice, Rejoice, a Saviour has been born to us

In Advent we have been waiting, preparing for this morning. We celebrate the first coming of Christ. In spite of the the trials and tribulations of life Christmas is a time of great joy. It is the reality of God showing His great love for us.

The Holy Family themselves lived a hard but simple life. But they experienced a love so great they could over come what ever challenge came their way. From the birth in the stable, to the flight into Egypt, to the eventual death of our Savior on the Cross, to His resurrection from the dead and His ascension and return to heaven.

All this so we can have life.

In our journey over the last 10 days we covered a renewed love for the Blessed Sacrament, the Word of Our Lord, Prayer, Addiction, Trust in God, His First and Second Coming and the sacrifice of both Mary and Joseph with their complete trust in God.

Let us today open our hearts with renewed vigour to welcome the great love God has shown for us. That no matter what happens to us we place our total trust in surrender to God. This is not selfishness on our part but a total belief in the power of God.

May I thank you for sharing this journey with me and I wish you all a very holy and happy Christmas and may the joys of knowing and loving Christ remain with you all forever.

MORNING PRAYER

Today let us open our hearts to the Lord.

May the light of the Christ child

open our minds to his great love for us

and may his love and joy find its way into our hearts.

Thank you Jesus.

Amen

TODAY is Christmas Day

Today a light will shine upon us,

for the Lord is born for us;

and he will be called Wondrous God,

Prince of peace,

Father of future ages:

and his reign will be without end.

WORD OF OUR LORD

Luke 2:15-20 - The shepherds hurried to Bethlehem and found the baby lying in the manger

Now when the angels had gone from them into heaven, the shepherds said to one another, ‘Let us go to Bethlehem and see this thing that has happened which the Lord has made known to us.’ So they hurried away and found Mary and Joseph, and the baby lying in the manger. When they saw the child they repeated what they had been told about him, and everyone who heard it was astonished at what the shepherds had to say. As for Mary, she treasured all these things and pondered them in her heart. And the shepherds went back glorifying and praising God for all they had heard and seen; it was exactly as they had been told.

THOUGHT FOR TODAY

Lord, may the Christmas morning make us happy to be your children, and Christmas evening bring us to our beds with grateful thoughts, forgiving and forgiven. In Jesus name we pray.

Always Remember - JESUS LOVES YOU

Rejoice O Daughter Sion;

lift up praise, Daughter Jerusalem:

Behold, your King will come,

the Holy One and Saviour of the world.

Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel

Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in our hour of conflict. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.

Only in God is my soul at rest. In Him comes my salvation.

We finish as we begun

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
