If we know someone is coming to visit us we usually prepare. Cleaning the house, preparing food etc., Likewise Advent in terms of Christianity is a Spiritual preparation for the coming of the birth of Christ.
In this series of short reflections we look at particular aspects of our relationship with God.
It is not an examination of conscience, just a simple check on what more we can do to ensure a welcome place in our hearts for Jesus, to know Him just a little better and to really and truly love Him above all things.
I thank you for all your great gifts
including the most precious - knowing and loving You.
Help me to know and do your will this day.
TODAY is Tuesday of the 3rd week of Advent
When we seek to listen to God in confidence, what is it that we gain?
Clarity (Psalm 73:17)
Deeper relationship with God (Psalm 32:8-9)
Direction (Isaiah 30:21)
Assurance, faith-building promises (Luke 1:45; 2:19)
A call to repentance (Hebrews 4:7)
Empowerment (Jeremiah 42:1-7)
WORD OF OUR LORD
Matthew 21:28-32 - Tax collectors and prostitutes are entering the kingdom of God before you
Jesus said to the chief priests and elders of the people, ‘What is your opinion? A man had two sons. He went and said to the first, “My boy, you go and work in the vineyard today.” He answered, “I will not go,” but afterwards thought better of it and went. The man then went and said the same thing to the second who answered, “Certainly, sir,” but did not go. Which of the two did the father’s will?’ ‘The first’ they said. Jesus said to them, ‘I tell you solemnly, tax collectors and prostitutes are making their way into the kingdom of God before you. For John came to you, a pattern of true righteousness, but you did not believe him, and yet the tax collectors and prostitutes did. Even after seeing that, you refused to think better of it and believe in him.’
THOUGHT FOR TODAY
Everyday Jesus is calling - calling all sinners to come home. In this holy season of advent let us take up His invitation. There is much joy in heaven for one lost sheep being found. He longs for us to come home. What have we got to lose and the rewards are beyond riches
Always Remember - JESUS LOVES YOU
Behold, I am coming soon
and my recompense is with me, says the Lord,
to bestow a reward according to the deeds of each.
Prayer to St. Michael the Archangel
Saint Michael the Archangel, defend us in our hour of conflict. Be our protection against the wickedness and snares of the devil; May God rebuke him, we humbly pray; And do thou, O Prince of the Heavenly Host, by the power of God, thrust into hell Satan and all evil spirits who wander through the world for the ruin of souls. Amen.
Only in God is my soul at rest. In Him comes my salvation.
We finish as we begun
In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
