Our series on the Catholic Catechism ended with the concluding part of the Catechism published yesterday. We are grateful to catechismonline.com for their permission to use their texts. The full catechism is available on this site.
It may be that we will repeat the exercise some time in the future.
Today we celebrate the feast of Saint Jerome, Priest, Doctor. He wrote many works of his own, including letters and commentaries on Holy Scripture. When a time of troubles came upon the world, through barbarian invasions, and to the Church, through internal dissension, he helped the refugees and those in need. He died at Bethlehem.
The Word of God
Today - Matthew 13:47-52
The fishermen collect the good fish and throw away those that are no use
Jesus said to the crowds: ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a dragnet cast into the sea that brings in a haul of all kinds. When it is full, the fishermen haul it ashore; then, sitting down, they collect the good ones in a basket and throw away those that are no use. This is how it will be at the end of time: the angels will appear and separate the wicked from the just to throw them into the blazing furnace where there will be weeping and grinding of teeth.
‘Have you understood all this?’ They said, ‘Yes.’ And he said to them, ‘Well then, every scribe who becomes a disciple of the kingdom of heaven is like a householder who brings out from his storeroom things both new and old.’
St Faustina's Diary
“Have great confidence; God is always our Father, even when He sends us trials.”
Stand up for Jesus
Given that much of the information coming from the Church today is full of ambiguity we support the call to 'Stand up for Jesus'. Whilst we can accept that the Church or many in it wish to save souls and make it more appealing to the masses by making it 'an all things to all people' organisation, it is simply diluting the Word of God and His Commandments.
We pray that at a time of ridicule of those who 'hold old-fashioned' and 'outdated' ideas all who believe in Christ will not be afraid to profess His true Word - Lay as well as Cleric.
Morning Prayer - St Jerome
Almighty, ever-living God,
you endowed Saint Jerome with a deep reverence for Holy Scripture,
which he loved with all his heart.
Sustain us ever more with your word
and help us to find in it the source of life.

All scripture is inspired by God and can profitably be used for teaching
You must keep to what you have been taught and know to be true; remember who your teachers were, and how, ever since you were a child, you have known the holy scriptures – from these you can learn the wisdom that leads to salvation through faith in Christ Jesus. All scripture is inspired by God and can profitably be used for teaching, for refuting error, for guiding people’s lives and teaching them to be holy. This is how the man who is dedicated to God becomes fully equipped and ready for any good work.
May the Lord bless us,
and keep us from all evil,
and bring us to everlasting life.
Always remember Jesus Loves You
